St. John's Kids
Growing in Faith
We are purposefully building a community that is centered on God's love, where children are not only taught through words but also through the actions that surround them. At St. John’s, we believe that faith is nurtured in both the lessons we share and in the everyday moments of kindness, compassion, and service.
Our mission is to create a safe and welcoming space where St. John's Kids can grow in their understanding of God’s love, learn the stories of the Bible, and experience the joy of being part of a faith community. We’re committed to teaching our youngest members not just about faith, but about how to live it out in their actions—serving others, showing love, and living with purpose.
Whether it’s through Sunday School, special events, or our vibrant ministries, we are here to support and guide your child on their spiritual journey. We look forward to partnering with you in nurturing their faith and helping them grow into compassionate, faithful individuals. Thank you for being part of our St. John’s Kids family!
Children's Worship
At St. John’s Episcopal Church, we warmly welcome children to join us in worship! We believe that children are an important part of our church family and encourage them to participate in our services. Throughout the year, we offer special services designed with children in mind, such as the Blessing of the Bookbags and the Blessing of the Costumes. Each Sunday, we also present Lessons from the Angel Oak, a special children’s sermon that shares God’s love and teachings in a way that is engaging and meaningful for our youngest members. We invite families to bring their children to church, knowing they have a place here to learn, grow, and experience the joy of worship together!
Children's Sunday School
Join us for Sunday School! Every Sunday at 9:15 AM in the LaRoche Building, children of all ages are invited to explore their faith in a fun, interactive, and creative environment. Our classes are always God-centered, offering engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and storytelling that help children connect with Scripture in meaningful ways. Whether your child is a preschooler or a teenager, they will find a welcoming space to learn, grow, and build friendships rooted in faith. We look forward to seeing your family there!
Parents Morning Out
St. John's Episcopal Church offers a Preschool Parents Morning Out program aimed at providing a loving, Christian environment for early childhood education. Designed as a gentle introduction to school, the program focuses on helping children transition from home, fostering social skills through free play, story time, music, movement, and simple structured activities.
Classes are available for children aged 12-23 months and 24-35 months.
Vacation Bible School
Join us for an exciting and fun-filled week at Vacation Bible School (VBS) at St. John's Episcopal Church! VBS is a special time for children to explore their faith through interactive lessons, creative activities, games, and music. Each day, kids will learn Bible stories, build lasting friendships, and grow in their understanding of God’s love.
Our VBS program is designed for children of all ages, with age-appropriate activities that engage their creativity, curiosity, and faith. With a focus on fun and learning, VBS is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience God's love in a nurturing and energetic environment.
Stay tuned for more details about dates, registration, and how to get involved. We can’t wait to see your child at VBS this year!
Nursery
We warmly invite parents to bring their little ones to the Sunday Morning Nursery while they attend church! The nursery is open from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the LaRoche Building. It's a safe and welcoming space where children can enjoy age-appropriate art supplies, puzzles, books, games, toys, and a snack with juice.
Many parents drop off their children just before the 10:30 service, and some return to the nursery to bring their little ones for Communion before returning them to play. Children have the option to explore inside or enjoy the outdoors during their time in the nursery. We look forward to welcoming your child to this special space!
Boy Scout Troop 76 &
Cub Scout Pack 42
Scouting helps children develop essential life skills through a structured, developmentally appropriate program that complements academics and prepares them for future success. In the early years (K-5), Cub Scouts participate in a parent-involved Pack, fostering family engagement and hands-on learning. As they transition into a Troop in middle and high school, Scouts gain independence, navigate peer-led groups, and develop confidence, leadership, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
Our Pack emphasizes fun and rewarding experiences through outdoor activities, campouts, day hikes, field trips, and learning projects. Rooted in the values of the Scout Law, we strive to instill lifelong character, citizenship, and service. Chartered by St. John’s Episcopal Church, our program is reverent but not overtly religious, welcoming all who seek adventure, learning, and personal growth.
